Having previously owned a retractable awning, this home owner appreciated the quality of life improvement of a lateral-arm retractable awning, but understood its limitations.  The goal for this Bergen County deck was to create a reliable space for entertaining, regardless of the weather.  At roughly 30' wide and 19' projection, the Gennius A2c was chosen to handle this larger area - very few retractable awnings are capable of spanning that projection, let alone be totally waterproof.  The A2c model Gennius can span a projection of over 26', and go up to 43' wide with one motor.

Special brackets were engineered and powder coated to match in order to attach the front posts to the deck beyond the railings.  This enabled us to maximize entertaining space. 

A custom brown frame color was chosen to match the Tudor brown paint on the home, and the motorized fabric cover operates via handheld remote control.
